movie tickets
jumpmn asked:

…and when other things such as cars.. depending on the car brand..i.e.. and are priced diffferently due to known quality and build differences… some are known blockbusters or high budget whereas other are or are and still priced the same? why cant the prices be subjective and set at different prices creating a competition and fighting for sales which would benefit the movie goer

I don’t really know but I figure it is something like this: The higher budget movies know that they are probably going to be more successful and sell a lot more tickets, but the lower budget movies know that they might not sell as many, so even though the higher budget ones sold more, they probably only make a little bit more then the lower budget ones who sold half as many tickets but also spent half as much producing the movie. I don’t know. That whole theory probably doesn’t make sense.

I used to work for American Multi-Cinema (AMC Theatres) and I can definitely tell you the reason why…

The theatre does not control the pricing of the tickets of each and every movie that comes out. Corporate office only controls the pricing of the tickets depending on the location of the theatre to the general public (quality of the area, stores / shops, property value). It is the production companies that make the movies controls the movie market. All the movie productions band together (kind of like that screen actors guild or something like that) to find out figures to draw in the crowd and make alot of money. The value of a single ticket stays the same for all movies (doesn’t matter what the movie is about). It is to also find out the box office hits during the opening weekend. Have you ever wondered how the people figured out how much a particular movie pulls in on a single weekend? Have you ever wondered how people could list the top ten movies that the public have seen on a single weekend? Yep… This is it. I’ve heard this question so many times when theatre guests come in and ask me why the ticket prices are so expensive. I’ve even had people come in and demand to talk to corporate office about the ticket pricing… Theatre companies do not control ticket pricing. You need to go to production companies for that (WB, Disney, Lionsgate, etc).
