Does anyone know how to make the navigation systems in the new lexus play dvd movies without the parking brake
Lexus
Dustin B asked:
I own an IS350 that can play dvd movies on the navigation screen, but only when the parking break is on. Is there any way to fix this so that it can play at any time?

It is a FACTORY safty feature to keep drivers from driving and watching movies. Not only is this dangerious and distracts the driver, it is also a ticketable offence. I sincerly hope no one tells how to wire it so it will play without the park brake on, or others who ask this question as well. I had a friend killed when a woman drove off the road and onto the sidewalk when watching a movie. she got jail time and he died. I wished that she would ahve got the death centice (but canada pussied out and dropped it). Because she watched a movie a friend and someones son lost his life. WAS IT WORTH IT?

you need to check with the manufacture they most likely made it that way for safety reason , but you can have it reversed

Not legally.

You could probably have someone disengage the signal somehow but I’m pretty sure it’s illegal.

There is a way to do it. You have to go through the wiring schematic. I am not very familar with the lexus wires but you will have to unhook the wire that lets the nav unit or dvd unit that lets it know when the car is in gear. It is a wire that goes from the unit to the transmission shifter or maybe even the transmission itself. Try one of the Lexus forums, they are sure to know there.

Yes, as abcd said previously, it can be done. It involves installing a small switch that bypasses the e-brake and speed control sensor. You can find all the info you want on…
Have fun!

I laugh at people that come in wanting me to do this to there car ./
I could tell you how to do it but i sure don’t want to be on the same highway as you with my kid in the car and my wife wile you are trying to drive and watch your DVD movie . There is a reason that they don’t want you to do that . if your kid wants to watch DVDs get one from walmart there under 100.00 and they fit right on the head rest in the back seat. Sorry but i have seen people almost die from talking on there cell phones. Crazy
